My mom's basically insisting I wear the full suit, jacket, tie, shirt, pants, but a lot of people I've asked say that's a bit much and that I should drop the jacket (which is what I think and I feel I'm most comfortable in). What do you guys think?

Leaving in one hour for a flight to Connecticut.

I haven't interviewed at Yale yet, but I interviewed at Harvard (I live closer) and wore just a button up shirt. i felt very comfortable amongst the people I met and the surroundings. It was clear that I made an effort but I didn't look like... well... a mama's boy. (Evidenced by the fact that your mom is forcing you into these clothes.) A tie would be fine, but if you're going to feel uncomfortable or out of your element in a jacket, that might come through in an interview. Where what you think will make them see you at their school (while still showing some respect.)

Yeah, I'm pretty comfortable with a tie and shirt (very comfortable, actually...have to wear it for concerts and such a lot) but I absolutely HATE wearing jackets. I think I'll just ditch it. Thanks for the quick and speedy reply! And I don't leave for my flight for about half an hour :).

what about for girls? I have my interview on monday and I dont know what to wear. I dont want top wear a skirt b/c of the weather, but i dont know if it will be really casual (khakis?) or more formal (dress pants). BTW sorry if it seems like im trying to steal your post Enteril, and good luck on your interview!
