I applied to University of Rochester, my 2nd choice school Nov. 29th because applying by Dec. 1 makes you eligible for scholarships. Anyways, I just got an e-mail requesting a date for an interview. Should I explain to the person that I want to wait for my decision from Cornell? Or does that leave a bad impression and should I really just go ahead with the interview and sort of 'fake' Rochester being my top choice (Although it is #2...)?

i'd fake it if i were you

I wouldn't say that Rochester is your top choice, but for that day I'd forget about cornell and focus on all the positives Rochester has to offer and get yourself to think that you really want to go there. It's really just a state of mind. So my advice is don't be too fake, but you don't have tell the complete truth either.

as my dad says, "fake it till you make it!"

eeemillie gives good advice. But if you feel during an interview that you must say something, then just say that Rochester is "one of your top choices" and explain why you like the school. I don't think you should postpone the interview though.

If it's an on-campus interview, relax. I did one at rochester and it was relatively laid back...well, at least they didn't ask me "is rochester your #1 choice" or "where else did you apply." They did ask you to talk about the things you liked about rochester, but that's it.
