I just found out that it is possible to schedule your interviews with the admissions group that visits each area to meet with students. I want to have a couple of interviews with admissions representatives but I'm not sure where to start looking for or who to contact. Can anyone help me?

Contact the admissions office and ask them who is going to be in your area and how to set up an appointment. Also, if you search the admissions section of the school website, you may be able to find the names & emails of the traveling admissions reps and you can then contact them directly. Be aware that not all traveling admissions officers are willing to do interviews - sometimes their schedules just don’t allow it.

If you can’t visit a school, do make an effort to gather as much information as you can about the school before your interview. Go into the interview knowing some specifics about the school you are applying to - and not just “oh, I heard this is a really good school . . .”

The traveling schedule is usually listed on the school’s website. If they are part of the “Ten Schools Organization” then you can find out when they’re visiting a region (as a group) on that site.

Yes, we just had an Independent Boarding School Reception come to our town this week. My daughter was able to interview with one of the schools. There were about 10 schools. I wish I had set up more interviews ahead of time but only received an email from the one school whom we had inquired about ahead of time.

I would sign up for information on all the schools you are interested in and check out their websites to see if they will be coming to a town near you. Also one of the schools told me if we could not make it back East to interview they could set something up locally with one of their alumni to interview.

Thanks for your advice guys. I had my Andover interview and it went pretty well. I just also scheduled a skype interview with SPS and I’m kind of worried, not about the actual interview, but the fact that it will be over skype. When I skype with my relatives from Korea, the the video and speakers lag a ton although it may be because it’s an international call. Has anyone had a skype interview before?? What was it like and did you have any problems while skyping?

Additionally, I’m planning to schedule an off-campus interview with Deerfield, but would it be a good idea to contact the same regional representative I interviewed with last year or should ask a new person?

Thanks in advance. :)

As far as the regional interview goes, I think that if you aren’t afraid of the potential “awkardness” of the situation it won’t really hurt your chances. (If you had a really bad interview last time, though, it might be wise to ask somebody else.)

For schools at that caliber, you need to go to their campus if you are serious about your application. Even interviewed by traveling may not be enough. Trust me.
