Interview?

I have my interview for Tufts next week... what should I expect? Who has done it before? What kinds of questions should I be prepared for? I feel like the supplement answered most of the questions usually covered in an interview-- will it be the same types or something completely different?

Much thanks to those who can offer experience and advice.

I just did some interviews yesterday at a school where our alums couldn’t make it.

Every alum will have their own style, but our expectation in the admissions office is that the conversation you have will be low-key and give you an opportunity to talk about the things you think are interesting. Our interviewers do not have a rubric, nor are they asked to assign you a grade, a rank, or anything else that would resemble a “recommendation for admission.” They are simply asked to tell us what about the conversation they had with you was interesting, and why.

Don’t stress about this (to the extent that’s possible). All we want is for you to be relaxed enough to engage an adult in conversation on the aspects of yourself, the world, or Tufts that you find interesting. Go, have a conversation, have fun.

Thanks Dan. I really want to go to Tufts, so naturally with the interview has me freaked out. It’s the very last part of my application that I have some semblence of control over before I find out from you guys, so I just wanted to make sure it would go as well as possible.

Thanks for your advice. I’ll try to keep it… but we’ll see how that goes haha.

Let me know how it goes after it is over!

I think it went well… you’ll know better than I do haha! The interviewer was very relaxed, which certainly calmed me down.

The bulk of the conversation was about my hopes for college and then after college, incorporating the activities and academics I’ve done in high school compared to what I want to do from here on out. She also answered questions I had about Tufts, mainly regarding her personal experience there… just fyi for other applicants reading this post.
