interview

I live in the Atlanta area and REALLY want to be admitted to Stanford. I already arranged interviews with Princeton and Harvard two weeks ago, but have not received any interview request from Stanford. I submitted my app on New Years Day. Is it normal to not have received an interview request at this point?

Interviews don’t play that significant of a role in admissions to Stanford I believe. You could try setting one up and there is an alumni near you

This talks about it a little more.

stanford interviews are really not very admissions-focused. it is really exploratory
from talking to alumni association leaders, the only part that helps admissions is if you make a really bad impression (?)

no proof of this. just stating what i’ve heard

Stanford is trying out a pilot interview program in certain regions only. Students living outside those limited regions don’t get interviews, and for those who do it is not a big plus since it is still ‘experimental’.

Don’t worry I live in the Atlanta area as well; still no reply. I sent my RD application in mid November.

Just FYI, interviews don’t affect the final admission choice at all 95% of the time. Don’t rely on an interview to get you in or keep you out. I received that data from an interviewer himself, so I think it’s rather reliable. I was also told that the interview is more of the interviewer “selling” his school to you.

I thought Stanford didn’t offer interviews :O

They have a pilot program in certain regions of the country. If they plan to offer you an interview, they will–you do not need to, nor should you, contact them about it. Do not worry if you don’t get an interview. It’s no reflection on how they view your quality as an applicant.

PantherPride’s link (post #2) talks a bit more about it.

its surprising how few people actually read the entire admissions website. you’d think your entire future would be worth 5 minutes XD
