Hi-

I have applied to UPenn and around these times some of my friends who have also applied heard about their interview. I am still waiting for a notification e-mail. Does not being offered an interview mean my chances are lower on the acceptance?
Or do they request one according to your major? I applied for its architecture program.

thanks-

Hello there, um I myself have applied to UPenn and will be having an interview next week. I’m not from the US though (see my location on the left) and about the interview, its just more of “opportunity-based” rather than a “requirement” basis. Not offering of course won’t lower your chances, its that having an interview would give you a chance to know more about UPenn and tell about yourself in return as well, cause of course an interview can be good which is great, and it can be bad and therefore break your chances. You don’t have to request an interview though, if they can accommodate one for you, they sure will.

I recently got a phone call from an alum saying he wants to interview me. An interview can’t hurt you unless you screw up big time so just relax. Under no circumstances should you say no to an interview even if you think you’ll get rejected. They could only help you. No if you don’t get an interview it does not mean that you’ll get rejected. It depends on the availability of the interviewers in your area. Some schools the earlier you apply the better your chances of getting one.

Thanks to both of you.

Though the case is they called 3 of my friends from my school for the interview. That means they have available interviewers in my area. But they all are faculty of engineering applicants.
