Hi,

I was just wondering what the interview will be like. Anyone have any idea of what types of questions my interviewer will ask? Also, how big a role does the interview play in admission?

Thanks.

Anyone? bump…

I just had mine and it was pretty easy and stress free. The guy just asked me some pretty basic questions (Why Vanderbilt? etc.) and then we just talked about Vanderbilt for like an hour+. I thought it went pretty well, though he mentioned that he didn’t think it made too big an impact on the admissions decision. Good luck!

My D did not interview.

My son interviewed with an alum. Son had not wanted to attend Vanderbilt due to stereotypes of old, but after meeting the alum --who was a lovely person, he opened up his mind to Vanderbilt greatly. He also set up an apt with another Vanderbilt graduate and found out things about that alum’s life at Vandy that made him more interested in Vanderbilt. Listen and find out about the person who is interviewing you. Everyone that comes to Vanderbilt is unique.

From what I understand, it’s not a big factor in admissions. It’s more of a tool for you to get a feel for what Vanderbilt is like.
