What are some of the common questions that your interviewer asked you?

My interviewer was obviously very new and seemed more nervous than I was. It was a couple months ago but some of the questions were like "What city would you most like to live in and why?" "What was your biggest obstacle?" "If you could only choose to continue doing one of your extracurriculars what would it be?" "What is your proudest achievement?" "Who do you think has affected you most in your lifetime and how?"

That's all I can remember. This is an on campus interview, by the way.

Don't worry about it...just be prepared to talk about yourself, your interets, and your plans for the future. There aren't any trick questions or things you need to answer specifically in one way. The interviewer just wants to get to know you and see what makes you tick.

That said, this might be really helpful: http://www.dartmouth.edu/~interviewers/interviewing/index.html . It's the alumni guide on how to interview prospective students (i.e. how to interview YOU). Click on "Guidelines" and "Tips" to get a good idea of where your interviewer is coming from. Very useful.

Thanks, man.

My interview was at the biggest house in town (seemed more like a hotel at the time) in the richest area---made quite an impression to the lowly ivy-seeker. Anyway, my interviewer (older man, knew his stuff) came right out and asked "What one thing about you sets you apart from 13,000 other applicants that i can write here that Dartmouth couldn't refuse?"
Now that question would probably have killed the ordinary student who has never seen such wealth or heard such a nightmarish question, but here I am: class of 2010. Questions range over three subjects: Academics, Extracurriculars, You (the third was where that ugly question was asked.)
