interview

Ok so I'm scheduling my interview with Exeter, Emma Willard and Deerfield. What type of questions are asked during the interview? Comments from past interviewees.would be very appreciated. Thanks.

Have u scheduled the interviews yet? It is very late in the game now to be getting on these schools’ calendars. Especially if you want the dates close together so you can hit all the schools in one coordinated trip.

Some schools tell you what they are going to ask before the visit. Some have you fill out a form either before you arrive, or when you arrive to give the interviewer some topics to discuss. They will talk about your current classes in school, hobbies or interests (clubs, sports, music, etc.) and answer questions you have about the school.

St. George’s School has a good list of likely questions:

It’s good general advice for any admissions interview. I’d expect the questions to begin conversations, rather than be a question/answer/question session.

My strategy is to come up with a list of all my great strengths that I think is important for the school to know about me. Then, I make sure I get to most of them during the interview.

The questions they ask are hardly ever difficult. I mean, they want to get to know you, not confuse you or ridicule you. Usually, they will ask you stuff that you really want to tell them anyways; like all your fabulous goals, or your amazing extracurriculars.

Afterwards, ask questions. Ask about the stuff you talked about during the interview. Ask about the interviewer and their experience. Ask about specific sports/music/etc that you are interested in. And show interest.

Good luck!

The Questions I remember are:

What’s your favorite book?
What’s one word to describe you?
What are your hobbies?
What do you not like about your current school?
How would your friends describe you?

Those are like…the basics. And don’t forget to ask questions yourself! :)

OH! And I forgot the big question:

What could you do to contribute to our school?

^^ TAKE YOUR TIME ON THAT ONE. I blurted out something random. Ha. But she liked the answer.
