Interview?

Hi everyone! My friend who attends my high school and lives five minutes away from me was offered an interview by a Dartmouth alumni - I didn't receive any email or message at all. I submitted my app two weeks before my friend as well. I was just wondering if this is normal and if interviews are really given on such a random basis; I feel a bit disadvantaged but because the Dartmouth website says not receiving an interview won't count against you, I'm just curious. Thanks for your responses!

Interviews are TOTALLY random. Interviewers get a list of contacts, and they contact as many as they can/want. Interviews are the LEAST important part of the whole application process, so don’t be stressed out that you don’t get one! Best of luck! I’m applying as well and I haven’t been offered interview yet either haha

Really? interviews are unimportant? I was really hoping it would help. I have always had good interview skills and thought that it could swing me.

Although written by a Brown interviewer, its facts apply to D as well

basically @ montague: yes it is random and you might never be offered one

@starter: yes it’s the least important factor of admissions.
