<p>I have an alumna interview for Mount Holyoke tomorrow! I'm so excited and naturally a bit nervous. I wanted to ask those who have done interviews, how did the process go for you? Any particular questions you remember? What items did you bring? (I'm bringing my transcript, resume, and a notepad.) Any tips or quick advice? </p>

You may already be at your interview… but my best advice is simply to relax and be yourself. My D really enjoyed her MHC interview. She was not “prepared” in any organized way and did not bring her resume, etc. It’s really more for them to get a sense of who you are outside of what the admissions people can see on your transcript. Do you have something you are passionate about? Talk about it! Do you have questions about what life/academics at MHC is really like? Ask them (as long as they’re not basic things you could easily learn from the web site, that is…)!
My D said her interview (which was with the admissions rep for our area) was not formal or scripted in any way. It was a free-flowing conversation. She loved it

<p>Hi! I actually just got home a bit ago, going to get ready for my interview soon! Thanks so much for replying, I always see you around this forum engaging passionately with many of us! I’m bringing my resume and my transcript as I’d like to discuss my hardships during junior year that affected my grades a bit, and I’m taking a notepad with questions! 
I struggle with anxiety so I’m a bit nervous but I luckily do have something that I’m passionate about and plan to talk about!
Do you know any particular questions that were asked? I’m not sure what questions to expect and I’m someone who really likes to mentally prepare myself in advance, but I’m really hoping that it goes well as this is pretty much my dream school! My interview is with a local alumna as I missed the admissions officer that came to my city because of my school play, so I hope she is a more enthusiastic alumna! We’ve exhanged emails and she seems really lovely, so just need to hope for the best. ;; thanks so much once again!</p>
<p>I’m sorry, I don’t know the specific questions. I asked my D if there were any sort of formulaic questions and she said, “no, we just talked…” I realize that’s not very helpful but there it is. You’ll do great!</p>
<p>Aah, just wanted to say that my interview went extremely well! The alumna was absolutely wonderful and while I believe most interviews are said to last around half an hour to an hour, ours lasted an hour and 40 minutes! Seriously haha, and she had to go because the entire building had already basically closed down. She said she would’ve stayed chatting if that weren’t the case because she was having so much fun. She brought a notepad and a pen but she never wrote anything, we just had a great time talking and I was so happy when I got out. I’m feeling confident, hopefully I can get accepted! Thanks again for your help!</p>
<p>D was interviewed by a MHC student when she was in HS (graduated from MHC 2 yrs ago) and the interview convinced her Mt. Holyoke was the place for her. Similar to your experience, they just talked for about an hour. Women’s colleges are self-selecting—if you qualify academically, pretty much it’s up to you if it’s the right place for you. Acceptance rates are high because those who apply will go if accepted, and those who aren’t sold on women’s colleges don’t bother to apply.</p>
<p>Acceptance rates are high because women’s colleges receive far fewer applications than co-ed schools and the yield is only 30 percent. Smith’s and BMC’s yields are within a few percent.</p>
