Interview

Hello everyone!

I am interviewing for Wake soon, and would really like a heads up for what kind of questions they ask. Should I come prepared to talk about current events or just about myself? Thanks so much in advance for the help!

hi! well first off, good luck with your interview! Secondly, the interview was really conversational and nothing that you should stress about. For my interview, we didn’t talk about current events, but I know some interviewers do ask about them. To be honest, she didn’t ask that many questions because she just expanded a lot on what I said. So basically we talked about my favorite books and I actually taught her something new about a book the other students never mentioned. Then when she asked me “why Wake Forest” we just expanded on everything I said. At the end, she asked if I had any questions, so definitely come prepared with some. Know about the different clubs, programs, and specific schools of Wake Forest (like their business school if you’re planning on doing business).

Oh and she asked about my classes, ap scores, approximate ranking. Come in with some stories that can tie in with what you want to say, to make it more exciting

That is so so so helpful, thank you!!

Not sure if I’m too late, but I interviewed in late August. To be honest, there aren’t really any zinger type questions that I thought there were going to be. I had heard they made you list the past ten books you read, but the lady I had only asked for the most memorable book I’ve read in school. If anything, I would just go in and treat it as a conversation. They really don’t write specifics down, so it’s the overall impression from the discussion that counts. I was really nervous and I think it showed.

How do you guys schedule interviews for Wake Forest?

@jimmylieu173 http://admissions.wfu.edu/visit/interviews/interview-request-form/ but it looks like Wake Forest is super booked for interviews already… but good luck!

@originalposter1 and @jimmylieu173, Be genuine. Just be genuine and try your best to relax (while being appropriate). They’re not trying to trick you or torment you or stress you, they are almost exclusively WFU grads who work for Wake who want to know who you are, what you’d add to a classroom and the community and why you think WFU is the place for you. WFU’s looking to ensure they offer spots to young adults who know why WFU would be as good or better than other place she/he, as a bright student, could go. I’d also venture to guess that they want to know how you would change or make the campus better. That’s a pretty expected goal of many interviewers. No staff member wants their campus to be static, show how you’ll make it richer. Don’t try to game it, it’s unlikely you’ll pull that off well…
