Interview

I applied ED1 to Tufts and submitted my application October 30th. I requested an interview on November 1 as soon as I got the link for checking my application status. It’s been almost a whole month, now, and I still haven’t heard back from any alumni about the interview. Is it normal to have to wait this long for an interview or does this mean I don’t get one? I know they’re not required to anything, but I really feel like an interview would help me since my GPA is relatively low. I’m also getting worried because the notification date is supposed to be “mid-December” and it’s getting very close to mid-December.

I applied ED1 on October 31st and got my portal on November 2nd. I requested the interview a day later and an alum emailed me on November 10th to schedule an interview. I think by now they should have conducted all interviews - the alum gave me a window of time that I could schedule it in. By now, I would guess that you may not get one, since it is almost December. However, the interview was just a casual opportunity for the alum to get to know you and I don’t think you’ll be penalized for not having one.

Well, that’s disappointing. Thanks so much, though, at least I know now.

My D applied 10/27 and had her interviewer contact her the next week and she had her interview the second week in Nov. She is a recruited athlete so I don’t know if that made any difference

Also, if your GPA is low, an interview won’t help you in any way. Tufts doesn’t weight the interview.

They recently created a new portal for interviews so there may be some hiccups during adoption. The current system works by allowing alumni to log in, see a list of students in their geographic area who have requested interviews, and “claim” students who they think they may be a good fit for (or who would be convenient for them to interview).

So, unfortunately there probably were not enough interviewers yet in your immediate area.

According to the [2014-2015 Common Data Set](http://provost.tufts.edu/institutionalresearch/files/CDS_2014-2015.pdf), Tufts considers the interview (though it is not rated as important).
