So, I just got an email asking me to come in for an interview. How good of news is this? I’m so happy right now if it’s a good sign.
That’s great! I didn’t think they did interviews. Was it with one of the department people in your major?
Are you a legacy?
Nope, no family has gone there. I did speak with someone who’s high up in the engineering department during a visit however, that might be why. I can’t remember his name, but he was an African american guy who gave one of the speeches on preview day.
Here’s the email:
Dear Jeffrey,
A member of the university community has recommended you to meet with a member of the Admission Committee for an interview. While this interview is optional, you will have the opportunity to learn more about Northeastern and discuss your personal goals and accomplishments.
Appointments for interviews are available Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. If you are interested in meeting with a member of the Admission Committee, please contact us at ________@neu.edu to schedule your appointment.
Please note, the Admission Committee understands that some applicants express themselves better in writing. If you choose not to accept this invitation it will in no way affect your final admission decision.
A small question I have for this though, what should I wear? And should I bring my laptop with a portfolio? It would contain my application, and some other things I’ve done.
This is a great sign! Did you apply to college of media and design? If so, it would be a good idea to bring your work.
@suzyQ7 I applied to the CO Engineering, but I could bring photos of my Eagle Project and a metal foundry I built potentially. I had a deferral letter written, and I think I should bring that too, just in case. I’ve posted on other NEU forums and nobody’s had an interview aside from one son of an alumni, so I really don’t know what they’ll ask.
You could bring your laptop in your backpack and play it by ear. I have a feeling it won’t come to you showing your work, but you don’t want to kick yourself later for not bringing it.
For dress, i would wear neat/clean khakis, dress shoes, and a nice button down. Not sure if a tie is necessary, but wouldn’t hurt.
