Interview

How are the on-campus Yale interviews?

I just want to know whether they are a little casual or whether they are totally formal.

Does the interviewere ask really random and nongeneral questions (why did the little blue rabbit in The Adventures of Bunny hop to Hoppingdale?)?

And anything else that might give me more information as to what the interviews are like.

If anyone could answer any of these questions or about anything at all, they would be appreciated.

Thanks.

In terms of attire, dress up. For guys, that's a button-down shirt, nice pants, and no sneakers. Girls, find the equivalent. I won't embarass myself by trying to describe female clothing.

In terms of questions, they're more casual than the alumni interviews, primarily because they're conducted by current seniors rather than old (eww) people.

A few of the questions which you should be prepared for are:

"Tell me a little bit about yourself."
"So, what do you do for fun?"
"Tell me a bit about your school" ... followed by... "Do you like your school?" (never answer categorically NO to this question)
"What are a few books you've read recently?"

I spent the entire time talking about sports and politics with my interviewer - this is probably not the norm, but I'd guess it's not the exception either.
