I submitted my application November 21st and haven't been contacted for an interview yet...should I be worried or is this wait normal for all RD applicants because they have so many applications to file and so many applicants to contact? Thanks!

Not normal, if you submitted that early.

I would enquire.

It's normal. First interviewed are EA. Depending on the number of alum volunteers in your area, however, all EA applicants may not be interviewed in the EA round. In the U.S., if there are alum in your area willing to interview, you may be contacted as late as early March. The timing is based mainly on luck, not on your chances.

My son just today brought up the same question. He finished his RD app in early November. He has not heard anything from Harvard regarding an interview.

Should he just sit tight and wait to be contacted? He has finished w/ all other schools that required interviews.

I think you should wait a bit. I was told that the interviewers have a list of names from their area sent to them and they contact the students. I wouldn't worry because the early action students had to be interviewed before the regular decision applicants. My guidance counselor also said that since its not mandatory to have an interview, not having one wouldn't hurt the applicant.
I hope that helps!
:)

If you're worried, a call won't hurt :) But I'm sure they'll get an interview unless you are not in any district?

MY D sent in her app first week of December and got called for an interview two weeks later. She had the interview just days before Christmas.

I would inquire.

I would call or email -- Harvard is a school where the interview counts. Accepting the line about how "its not mandatory so not having one won't hurt you" is dumb. If you call they might get the alumni to get moving, or it could be that someone dropped the ball and you're not on the list.

Submitted a few weeks before Christmas...no contact whatsoever. Yale, however, did contact me already.

It completely depends on who is in your area.

I wouldn't worry too much at this point: I received contact information for students to interview as recently as last week. Rest assured that we interviewers do try to arrange interviews as quickly as possible; in my area, at least, we're expected to submit reports within two weeks of receiving a student's contact information.

So is it normal if I applied on the 31st of Jan, and still have not heard about an interview? I'm just starting to hit the PARANOIA! phase.

although my post isn't relevant to the discussion but i accidentally interrupted my interviewer when he was talking...yikes....he was pretty nonchalant throughout the interview.....but i'm still scared

when are the interview reports due from the alumni?

i'm not too familiar w/interviews but i'd say having one is better than not having one. i just had an interviewer contact me today and i applied around dec. 20. i'm in michigan. i dunno if this helps at all. as for kisstherain, jan 31 would be a month after the due date so i don't even know if they'll take ur application.

i have not been contacted for interview yet. my friends all did. it could be that i submitted my application on the 1st.
should I ask for an interview?

i submited on the 1st. i got a call only two days ago.

i havent heard anything about an interview, though i did one for yale.

btw i think kiss submitted on the 31 of dec, bc his/her post was from the 12th of jan

Haha. I did mean the 31st of December. Senior year stress has made me a pretty big air head. :)

should I contact the admission office for interview?

i have called and they say call after Feb 15 if you haven't heard till then. they won't help you before that.
