Interview?

I have my interview next week, and I was wondering what kind of things I should prepare to talk about.

Be prepared to talk about why you want to go there (over other places) and ask questions that show you've done some homework on the school and are interested.

Anything and everything. Glance through the college's course catalog and publicity materials. Be prepeared to give specific reasons as to why you want to attend that particular college. Anything is fair game in an interview and I know of interviewers who frequently use some of these questions:
Why [insert name of college]?
Why is diversity important in higher education?
Who is your favorite U.S. President and why?
What choices that you made in HS do you regret?
How will you go about taking advantage of our curriculum?
What do you know that you don't know?

Basically: be prepared to answer anything. If necessary, allow yourself time to think through questions before answering them. NEVER answer a question "I don't know" or "good question", rather acknowledge "that is a difficult question to answer".

Also important: give to-the-point answers. Don't ramble on forever. Answer the question you're asked and avoid inserting your accomplishments in answers where they really don't belong. The interview is your time to shine so don't waste it.

You need to sustain the interviewer's interest so try to make your answers interesting even if that means reaching for straws. For example if asked to provide specific examples of a situation where you faced an academic challenge--make sure to provide a specific narrative. Don't answer that you haven't expereinced any academic challenges (even if that might be the case).

Good luck!

Maybe read this thread?

"The Thread for College Interviews" which is stuck on this forum?
