Interview.....

I received an email stating that their were no alumni interviewers within 75 miles on me (duh, I live in the middle of Idaho). Is there anywhere I can look to see a list of interviewers? I would be willing to drive to the nearest one if need be. Is my only option a $1,000+ trip to Chicago for an on-campus interview?

I've known other people who have applied and has asked the admissions people the same question and they've said the "the interview doesn't matter" etc. But maybe they'll be willing to work with you, I don't know.

Everyone I've know who's gotten in (and also everyone I've known who's been rejected/deferred) has not had an interview. In fact, it appears that University of Chicago people religiously avoid preppy, upper-middle class suburbs after graduation.

I honestly believe the interview does not matter (but I feel your pain. I was completely freaking out for the past two weeks about never getting one).

i got accepted, and I had an interview on campus.

i got accepted, no interview

I had an interview in what you might call a "preppy, upper-middle class suburb" and I was accepted. I don't know how much it helps, but my interviewer was very nice and enthusiastic about me, so I'm sure it helped me somewhere

Interviews don't really matter unless you're right on the edge. Of the three people that I know who got in (myself included), none of us had an interview.

For those of you who didn't have an interview, what were your stats? I am afraid I am on "the bubble."

Also, if I were to say that Chicago is my first choice, would that help? I REALLY, REALLY want to make sure I do anything possible that would show UChicago how much I want to attend (besides essays).

accepted, no interview. the uncommon app gives more than enough room to truly show who you are.

My interview was 10 minutes of talking about me and 25 minutes talking about Chicago. That experience was quite different from the political awareness drill sessions of two of my other interviews.

I hope I get in.
