Interviewing at Pomona

I live in Washington and I think I have a reasonable good chance of being accepted at Pomona coming from a very prestigious high school with a pretty good gpa and 2340 SAT. How much would it help my chances if I set up an interview for when I visit next year and was able to make a pretty good impression? Im a junior this year...

Making a good impression in an interview will ALWAYS help, and I believe Pomona suggests it. However, many people on here got in without having an interview, so not doing one can't be too detrimental. With that said, I don't see any reason not to interview, unless you have an extremely unlikable personallity. Just make sure to be prepared, but more importantly, be relaxed! good luck

oh and do you go to woodinville HS? hmmm reading your other posts i think i can answer my own question: no. Lakeside perhaps?

And while I'm at it (looking at your other posts) Stanford and Pomona were my top two choices as well. I applied Stanford SCEA becasue it was non-binding. If i were to get into both, I would have chosen Pomona anyways. However, they made my decision easier and rejected me (Stanford that is). And good riddance. I have heard many-a-story about people not liking Stanford (2 becoming anorexic because of all the pressure). Not that I have a grudge or anything...;).
Now if you still wanna apply, they really like people with stellar ECs and strong essays. And yes, they don't do interviews, so you don't have to worry about that. GL with the process (wow just THINKING about doing that again sucks, but have fun anyways :) )

Vassily - the interview is your key to admission. Good luck.

An interview will very rarely hurt you, unless you are a really bad people person or something. However, many people (such as all 3 of the people from my high school who were admitted, myself included) get in without interviewing with stats comparable to yours and a lesser school profile. I live in Shoreline, so applicants from my school directly compete with those from Lakeside, if that is really where you go.

So go for the interview! It can only do good.

Yeah I go to Lakeside School in North Seattle. We normally have quite a few people applying to Stanford and Pomona since they are prestigious. At this point im leaning more towards Pomona if I was to get into both, but its def not a final decision since I have not visited either school. I think while im down there visiting I will def sign up for an interview because I can use all the benefit I can get with such a small acceptance rate (16% i think now -wow) thanks for your input

Most of the people I met at the Pomona admissions weekend did not interview. It didn't hurt us at all but it never can hurt!
