It depends on what you mean by "in your area." I've interviewed students who live more than 60 miles from me who probably wouldn't consider me to be local. Some interviewers do telephone interviews. I think an attempt is made to connect every applicant with an interviewer; no, they won't contact you to tell you that you won't be interviewed.

Interviewers handle their assignments differently. My interviews usually last about an hour (although I don't do 10/year). Have good questions to ask (ones that are not on the Web site), be prepared to explain why you are excited by Brown.

I have my alum i'view today. The alum asked for my application and a resume so I emailed her Part 3, which includes my resume. I'll post a reply on how it went later.

My interview is next Saturday. He told me that I should just dress casual, he likes to see applicants they way they are (not dressed up), and he told me I didn't need to bring anything. Sounds great. I hate getting all dressed up.

My i'view on Sat went well. I'm glad now that the alum asked for my app (Part 3) and resume because among the 6 alum i'views that I've had with different schools, this is the first time that someone attached to the actual admissions process has given me feedback on my essay.

I'm not reading too much into the i'view itself, but in a follow-up thanks note, the alum noted how I had many of the "personal qualities" of what Brown is looking for.
