I read in the Pomona booklet that all california applicants are expected to interview on campus. I'm from the East Coast (PA) so i know that they can't require me to interview on campus...but if i go and visit, should i schedule an interview then, or just have an alumni interview? I would love to go there...i want a college completely different from my life now. it's not a huge question...just wondering!

If you visit, I think it makes a lot of sense to do the interview there. It is very low key, from my son's experience. He was interviewed by a Senior at the college. I think they will use the interview to determine if you are able to communicate effectively, what you really seem passionate about, and whether or not you will fit in at the college.

I live in CA and I did an alumni interview. It was a lot of fun, and you can actually talk to them and ask them questions about how they felt life was like at Pomona College.

Yeah, i did too and it's pretty cool. It's not formal at all and you learn a lot about the college.
Michelle's right you know.

D toured campus but wasn't prepared for an interview at the time (junior year). She applied ED and was interviewed by a young alum living in our area. It was a very relaxed interview, and it turns out the alum was an interviewer when he was a senior at Pomona. Your level of readiness rather than location should be the deciding factor in scheduling the interview. Also, you may want to take some time to absorb everything you've learned about the College through your tour before asking the interviewer questions.

Good luck!

Thanks, Alejandro. Haha.
