Hello (again),
I am strongly thinking of applying Early Action to MIT. If so, when do they release the application materials for freshmen entering Fall 2007? Also, how early or by when should I ask for an interview, and if I am applying early, when can I expect this interview to take place?

True, my interview was during Oct. Don't worry too much about it, as soon as they release the information online, call your EC and make an appointment. :)

The contact information will be on your MyMIT page, and you'll call or email your assigned EC to set up an interview.

People talk about lots of different things in interviews, but their main purpose is for MIT to get to know you a little better, and for you to ask any questions about MIT that you might have.

See molliebatmit's post #2 above:

I am thinking they usually release the application sometime in late August, or in early September at the latest.

Around that time, there will be information on contacting your EC (educational counselor) available when you log into my.mit.edu.

I requested the earliest interview in my EC's career. I kinda cheated, because I had his info already. He was very impressed. I don't know how other EC's would respond to that though.
