<p>It never even occurred to me that my parents would be welcome at an interview. I drove myself to all of them (including the ones 40 miles away), and my parents weren't any more involved in the interview process than to say "Hi honey, how'd it go?" when I came home. I think it's best for kids to handle all of it themselves, including the driving (if it's reasonable)- it's their interview for their college education, after all.</p>
<p>My poor mother did panic the time I had to drive 40 miles for an interview, because the interview ended up lasting 2.5 hours. I obviously couldn't call her to let her know I'd be later than expected, but when I went back to the car, my cell phone had 6 frantic messages. A little bit traumatic for her, but at least the interview went well :).</p>
