I think it only came up twice in all of my daughter’s interviews. Once when the interviewer asked about a Book Day workshop she ran on LGBT representation in literature and they chatted about that for a long while. Another when the (old white guy) interviewer asked her about what kinds of activities she might be interested in at college and one of her many was a LGBT political advocacy group they had, and he very helpfully put her in touch with that department.
IMO it will probably come up naturally, or it won’t. Either way is fine, you aren’t hiding anything if the conversation happens to go in a different direction.
