What is the process for the required alumni interviews? Ds has completed Part I of his app which we understood was what got the ball rolling for the interviews. How long after submission of Part I would he expect it to be before he hears something about that? Do they notify through e-mail?

Three years ago when S applied he was contacted a few weeks later by an alum from our area. They had a casual meeting at a local Starbucks that lasted nearly an hour although it was only scheduled for a half hour. It was real low key and casual and the interviewer made S feel very relaxed and comfortable - not like some other interviews he had. If I recall, the interviewer contacted him via email. I don’t recall if this took place between part 1 and 2 of the application process or after part 2 was completed. Good luck to your S and Go HOYAS! :)

A representative from the Alumni Admissions Program will email your Ds the contact info for the person conducting the interview. He will then need to contact the interviewer to arrange the meeting. See this text from the GU website:

“All interviews are conducted in the local area of the applicant. No interviews are given on campus. Upon receipt of Part I of the application, applicants are assigned to a local interviewing committee in their region based upon their school year address. Local chairmen will notify each applicant via mail or e-mail with contact information for their individual interviewer, and it will be up to the student to contact their interviewer and set up a meeting. Interviews may take place at any mutually agreeable location, such as a local coffee shop, school, library, or the interviewer’s office.”

Thank you! To both of you! I can’t remember when he submitted Part I. Probably only a week ago. If he hasn’t heard anything by, say, October 1st, should he contact Georgetown?
Don’t want to be too push/eager beaver-ish, but don’t want to not follow through either.

Hmm. Maybe he should wait until mid-October to contact then. He does have his part I in because we were told on our campus visit to get that completed ASAP, but he is not applying EA to Georgetown.

I believe the EA applicants may be interviewed first. I would not worry. GU prides itself on arranging alumni interviews for all of its applicants.

I completed Part I on September 16 (applying EA), got an email from AAP on September 30, and had my interview a few days later. It might depend on alumni availability in the area.
