Is an interview recommended for the admissions process? And if yes, how much will it benefit me?

Lehigh doesn’t require interviews at all. I would do one if you fee like you’re lacking in another critical area of your application. I did one last year, not because of this reason, but because it was convenient since I live very close and because I wanted to put all my cards on the table. In retrospect, it probably made no difference for me because I applied ED and showed interest many other ways. The actual interview was not bad at all. Two young admissions faculty (who it seemed like had just graduated) sat down with me in a small study space and asked me some general questions. Nothing intimidating, just a casual ~20 minute conversation. Nothing like “how many tennis balls can fit in an airplane?” More like “Why did you pick that major?” or “What do you hope to get out of your college experience?”

Interviews aren’t required, but they definitely aren’t a bad idea, especially if you’re looking into a specific program (so like an honors program like IDEAS or IBE, or Arts and Engineering). If you’re considering one of these, I’d definitely look into it, as I know these programs are looking for a specific sort of person. (If you’ve never heard of IDEAS or IBE, you can get a feel for ideas on my blog http://ludeanna17.■■■■■■■■■■■■■/ and IBE should have a plug on the Lehigh page). Hope that helps!
