interviews

i have my interview at 5 tomorrow...what are they like...i've had a few, but none of them really asked me questions about the school...how do dartmouth's interviews work?

well i think it really varies with the interviewer... mine was all about me... the only talk about the school was him raving about it... no hard questions.

same here. typical questions, why dartmouth? what do you do out of school? why not tech school? im a math/science person. biggest hardship in life? and the guy talked about dartmouth a lot, it was comforting, he was really easy going and really seemed to like dartmouth, certainly made me like dartmouth a lot. relax and good luck.

Yeah- I got hit with the "biggest hardship" one too, which I personally think is a stupid question.

Also look out for: How will you continue some of your interests at Dartmouth? What do you think will be the biggest adjustment you have to make going to college?

Basically it comes down to two questions:
1) Have you done enough research about Dartmouth to prove you want to go here (and aren't just applying blindly, because it's Ivy)?
2) Are you smart, resourceful, and a good person (Obviously- pretty general and subjective. One admissions officer told me once he based it on: would he want this applicant living next to him, in a dorm?)

I WANT MY INTERVIEW :( havent been contacted yet...

BLAH tedjj me neither. Admissions told me to call back like Feb 21st if i didn't get one. And I know they claim it's up to the Alumni Coordinator or whatever to contact you, but for some reason my paranoid mind gets a nasty feeling that I've not been contacted b/c they know I'm not in and don't want to waste an interview on me. Yes, I know, completely irrational lol

I don't think they consider any interview a waste. When I applied to Columbia ED, I was interviewed, even though at the time I had a "low" SAT score. However, they rejected me in December. Apparently the admissions officer who reviewed my application told me if my SAT scores would have been higher I would have been accepted. But to stick to the point, they don't consider any interview a waste.

cup, just how low was your SAT score, cause mine's pretty low too, in the 1300's , highest combined only 1410

yeah cup I realize that now, b/c I had my interview yesterday :-D
