i haven't been offered one for RD and i live really close to columbia...is that normal?

Well Columbia only offers alumni interviews, none on the actual campus. A lot of people haven't been offered live interviews, and often it seems pretty random. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

I have mine scheduled this Wednesday and a friend of mine has his tomorrow. I believe that the interview season for RD is just starting up.

Interviews aren't a big deal for undergraduate admissions. I think you'd be lucky to be able to skip this step.

lol - actually, i was just offered one about a minute ago, but thank you for your help! and yes, i'd have loved to skip this step as well, but i didn't want them to have passed over me for interviews because of something that was missing from my app that i didn't know about, so...

It's good practice, though, for what comes later in life (job interviews, grad school interviews, etc.). After you've completed them, take some good notes and use apply what you've learned elsewhere.

Enjoy your interviews!

My son was even more excited after his interview than he was before. For this reason alone, I endorse the interview process.

"I believe that the interview season for RD is just starting up."

Noo. It started ages ago--it starts once applications start coming in.

It ends Feb 9th for SEAS and Feb 23 for CC. Those are the dates by which alumni have to submit their interview reports.

Just a FYI to others reading this thread... there are lots of interviewers in NYC, but there are a boatload of applicants as well. So your chances of getting an interview if you live in NYC are probably not that great.
