Interviews

Hi! I’m a long-time reader and a brand new member. My dad went to Penn, so as a legacy I’m doing an interview at Penn. Penn’s my frist choice and I’m pretty nervous about the interview. I was wondering if anyone had done an interview at Penn before and could share their experience.

Thanks!

It's easy... they're nice. Hopefully you won't have to listen to the parent of the guy in front of you talking about all the $$ he's donated, like I did.

I'd wear khakis, but not a suit or anything. Come prepared with non-obvious questions- HINT- what's the Avg SAT is a bad one... asking about the city or specific groups on campus you're interested in, and how to contact them, is good.

be ready to talk about You & Penn as a team. What do you do that is uniquely you, which will be an asset to the school.

U might want to show interest in the experiences of the interviewer when they went to Penn. I asked my interviewer things like: So how did u cope with the weather ur first year? (I'm from miami so that question might not apply to u), What activities did u participate in?, How were ur classes? yada yada yada
I don't know how much that might set u apart, but I do know that they give u an interview as an opportunity to learn more about u, as well as for u to learn more about the school (so it might be impressive that u actually use this opportunity instead of just asking meaningless questions...) :)
