I didn't interview, but a friend of mine does them now. They're supposed to be very low stress--talk about your classes, extracurriculars, what you do during the summers, and why you're interested in Barnard. And, of course, answer any questions you have.

She says that mostly, the interview can only help you. As long as you don't say something completely stupid, that is. E.g. "I want to go to Barnard because I can't think when there's a cute boy in the room." Just be honest and your (smart) self.

My D enjoyed her Barnard interview the most of any. The interviewer herself was very impressive and, according to my D, the conversation between the two was wide-ranging, informal, and interesting. If the interview had been the deciding factor, my D would have gone to Barnard.

My daughter had a similar experience. Barnard was the first school we visited. The tour guide was terrific, followed by a low stress, fun and supportive interview. When it came to making a decision between Washington University, Northwestern and University of Washington Honor's Program, Barnard came out of top.

I just received an email from the admissions officer for my region, and I think I'll be interviewing with her next weekend. Any other advice on what to expect?
