I went to a session and they said that interviews are mostly for you to learn more about the school and are rarely (about 10%) of the time factor into your admissions. I can see both sides to this, but did anyone else ever hear of this?

The importance of interviews depends on the college involved. Some colleges do use interviews only for to provide students info about the college. Some colleges factor interviews into admissions decisions. This includes some colleges that factor demonstrated interest into admissions.

what about top 25 schools (like Ivy, Vanderbilt, Emory, WUSTL, Duke)

Like NSM said, it depends on the school. On the Yale forums, one alum interviewer has posted a FAQ

Some importance is placed by Yale (all interview write ups are read) but it’s generally very small. This is one college’s case. Other colleges will be different. There’s no blanket rule.

Restating what NSM said: “The importance of interviews depends on the college involved”
