I am a student currrently in Australia. I really want to become a physician and be one in the US. However, recently i have been researching many US medical schools and the threads concerned about residencies, and discovered that to acquire a residency is very difficult for graduates from international universities. Is this true and the fact that international universities, regardless of their international status ( in this case Australia) are not weighed equally to most US med schools. Also, if i were to get my doctor degrees from the top Australian universities would acquiring a residency in the US be difficult. Thank you.

As an Aussie, you'd have somewhat of a handicap relative to US & Canadian grads, but it would be fairly minor IMO. To be brutally honest, the not-too-infrequent prejudices of many people who make these kinds of decisions probably do not include many anti-australian sentiments.
