Hey, well. I supposed it's probably been asked before but I couldn't find it. Anyway, I'm from Venezuela and I didn't get a chance to visit the Columbia campus this summer and I don't really know what to write as an answer for this question. I mean, I'm interested in some of the clubs it offers, NYC and the Uni's reputation... and I don't want to sound shallow, I just want to get in a good university with high job offers when I graduate, that has a very high educational level and that has a good enviroment. So I don't know... anyone could help me out? I don't think these reasons will neither fill the application space nor get me in... :-/

If your answer to the "why Columbia" question is a mere regurgitation of something mentioned on this board, it won't go over too well. You need to think about what YOU bring to the table and what YOU'RE interested in, and how Columbia fits in with those things.

You say you're interested in some clubs -- how do those tie in with your current interests? What about NYC appeals to you on an intellectual level? Think about those sort of things.
