Int'l students

I'm from the USA, but I heard that it's harder for international students to get into colleges in the US...why is this? Wouldn't colleges welcome the diversity?

im an international

us citizens pay taxes; and there are so many smart kids coming out of india and china that they would flood US universities if it was equally easy for them, now you can't have US colleges full of internationals can you? then the US wouldnt benifit at all and would be spending their money on educating people of other countries

Most tuitions are subsidized by federal grants I think...
and universities have limited resources for international kids (esp. public schools)...but at private schools some schools view internationals as sams as domestic students as long as they do not ask for financial aid (e.g. Duke)

Another reason for the intense competition among internationals is the small group of colleges that most international students want to attend. We do not fly around half the globe and pay $50K a year to attend an (internationally) unknown college. While XYZ College usually welcomes international students with open arms, the competition at top universities (Ivies...) and colleges that consider international students for financial aid is fierce.
