Hello everyone, I am going to Berkeley as a L&S student coming Fall. I originally applied wanting to do an econs and business degree. However, since then I have decided to do EECS instead.

I am taking CS61A, Math 53 & Math 54 and a RnC for my first sem(Fall 2011) and I am confident of getting at least a 3.6 technical GPA. However, my question is this, is there still a chance that I might be denied admission into EECS even with that GPA? Thank you very much!

P.S I know that there is a CS in L&S also but I'm more interested in the EE side.

Information from the College of Engineering:
[Change of College — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/prospective-students/admissions/change-of-college)

But it does not say how difficult (GPA wise) it is to get the change into EECS approved.

Which part of EE are you most interested in? If you are willing to take six upper division CS courses (which can include CS 150 and 152 about hardware), L&S CS may be more of an option.

Hey thanks, I remember seeing something like “it is advisable to get a 3.2 GPA for transfer into EECS” but they didn’t give any specific numbers. One of the sophomores who also transferred told me that the general rule is to have a GPA higher than the people already in the major but I have no idea what that is. (he had a 3.9 when he transferred)

And anyways, I’m more into the design of electrical circuits etc.

There is this page, but it is for students already in the College of Engineering and want to change major within the College of Engineering:

[Change of Major — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/current-undergraduates/degree-options/change-of-major.html)

As far as average GPAs, this page:

[Why Berkeley Engineers Succeed — UC Berkeley College of Engineering](http://coe.berkeley.edu/students/prospective-students/choosing-berkeley-engineering/berkeley-engineers-succeed.html)

has some for the entire College of Engineering. Note that EECS is by far the largest engineering major.

Oh thanks, but the thing im worried about it is whether I would still be denied admission into engineering even if I get a 3.6 GPA or higher?
