Intramurals??

Do you have to be good in the sport to play intramurals? Can you be a beginner? Who runs them and is it like a get-together where ppl play the sport? I'm kind of confused to what they are exactly. Could someone explain?

Usually the school runs them. And yes they end up as essentially people getting together into teams to just play - you don't have to be good. Here it's mostly frats facing off against each other for guys and srats for girls but independent teams form too.

What kind of sports are intramurals?

flag football, ultimate frisbee, soccer, softball, swimming, basketball, you name it, get enough folks for teams and you can play it...check w/ the college athletic dept...have fun.

try scoping out a game some time to get an idea of how intense the intramurals are - at d1 schools they tend to be a little more advanced b/c less people make it onto the varsity teams, but that all depends on the school..

At my school you have a choice of intramural A or B leagues. The B league is really just for fun and recreation, and the A league is more intense and competitive. B league has a lot of beginners and A league has a lot of ex-high school players.

yeah, that's how it is at my school (well we have high, middle, and low division) but basically you and a group of people fill out a roster for a sport, you submit it, and every week or so you have a game against other teams. It's fun, I recommend it.

That sounds fun, get to release some stresses over college.

they have almost every sport... people who play intramurals range from HS varsity athletes in the sport to people who have never played. They usually have different divisions.
