How often does an international (esp. Indian) get accepted to either Harvard, MIT or Princeton? THOSE WHO WERE ACCEPTED PLEASE POST YOUR STATS HERE...

not often enough

A lot, especially Harvard.

What exactly are you asking for? The acceptance rate for internationals at Princeton last year was around 7% if thats what your after. I think there were a few Indians in last years Princeton group though I hear its ultra compeditive especially if you're an ORM.

I heard that MITs intel acceptance rate was 5-7% 2 years ago. They supposedly accept more intels than other top schools. Pton also.

It's ultra competitive for all Indian applicants (living in India) for all the schools you have posted.

I am a newone here... can someone explain what "intels than other top schools" means???

intels == international students :: Its a CC lingo

SM

No its not. Its those zarking froods working at that place you know, where they make those things, to un that thing when those guys need to do that work on that thing and post it on that area.

hehehehe cool.....

Is Stanford good enough for you? I was accepted early this year. If you want to know my stats, click on my nick and search for all posts by me. Somewhere in the results, there will be a Stats post to the Indian Thread.

Admission for international students is not that predictable.
For example, Stanford admitted "several" students from China in the past five years, but all of them chose other colleges. There was no mainlander represented in the college since 2001, and when it came to class of 2009, the admission office accepted a total of 8 students, which was unimaginable before. I think they accepted so many just because they figured there would be at least one or two coming, unlike the years before.

williamzhang,
Do you know mainlanders are in the same pool with Chinese applicants (international) living in US?

Even students from the same city will not be in the same "pool".
International students are in a large pool, then they are categorized into smaller pools.

thank you williamzhang.
you said that International students are in a large pool, then they are categorized into smaller pools.
Do you tell me how they are categorized?

wow...there are no mainlainders in stanford?? that's just weird..

Yeah, when the seven students arrived in Stanford last September, they were greeted as the first comers to Stanford from mainland of China in recent years.

really? that's interesting, in the past five years, where did those students go instead of stanford?

I'm sorry to disturb again...but a few questions...

If I read your lingo correctly, does it mean that MIT and all accept more intls. than they do local students from top US schools... or is it something else???

Also, can somebody please list Indians and other Asians accepted to Top univs like Stanford, Princeton etc, in EA this year???

P.S. > Saatvik, can you pleaaase reply to my mail!!!!

Also, is it true that intl. or even local RSI applicants are >95% of the time, accepted at MIT?? Has this been true regarding MIT intl. admissions specifically from India in the past few years????
Thanks!

why does it matter what the acceptance rate is? will an uber low rate deter you from applying?

Well.. I knew a guy (South Indian) who got into Harvard from here. I'll try to find out his exact stats, but I remember some of is EC's: Head Boy of his school, Captain of Debating Team, Captain of Quizzing Team, Topper in 10th and 12 exams, something like 95 % or more if I remember correctly, I think he got about 1580 in the old SAT, was a very likable chap, varied interests.
