Can anyone who has attended both UMCP and Montgomery College compare the introductory level courses that they have taken at each school? Things like depth of the material taught, quality of instruction, class size, participation by classmates, any other pluses or minuses? UMCP has a guaranteed transfer program from MC, and I am trying to get a sense of how going that route might compare to Freshman Connection for a potential Spring admit or even to a transfer from UMBC or another State school. Clearly, MC costs much less, but would taking some introductory courses there be a significant difference in the quality of the education if the ultimate goal was to complete a degree at UMCP? Thanks!

Anyone? (bump)

i thought the guarenteed transfer was only for people who complete an associates degree there

The guaranteed transfer program requires a 3.2 to get into the Smith Business School. Someone who interned in our office was just under that but had lots of related ECs, and his guaranteed transfer wound up being the general business program at the Shady Grove campus. Not what he had hoped for.

OTOH, folks I know (including adults going for specialized courses for certificates) have been very pleased with the quality of classes.

A LOT more students have been doing the MC–>UMCP track of late because of finances. Not sure how that is affecting class size or offerings.

Anyone else?
