Hi! I was wondering what the likelihood of me getting into Intro to Design (Design 001) if I am wait listed - 73

The enrollment capacity is about 235, what do you guys think?

It's a new teacher this year, so I don't know how he'll feel about letting in wait listed people...

I took it last year, no one on the wait list got in (unless people dropped the class..

If you're a major don't worry that you can't get into this class. It's really not a big deal if you don't get into Des 1. It is a prereq for basically every des class, but it is mainly a class to weed out people who may major in design.

If you want another class to take and you are a des major (or planning to be) I recommend taking Art 2, which is a basic drawing class and it fulfills a necessary requirement (substitute for Des 14).

Aw man, so i'm guessing my chances are really slim.. I need it to transfer majors though next quarter! What about PTA NUMBERS?

so you're trying to transfer into design??...

best of luck with that...

I came in declared as a des major. but for those who are undeclared it is nearly impossible to get into classes...even for me (and I'm going into my third year this fall). Expect to be waitlisted for your classes!! But don't give up!!

As for PTA numbers, if were already declared, the des advisor would probably give you a number, but since you're not..you'll have to have completed 2 (I think it is 2 still..) des classes before declaring as a major.

I wouldn't worry about des 1, but DO PLAN ON TAKING SUMMER SESSION!

For now, just get into Art 2 and if you have some sort of registration priority, maybe try to get into des 40 a or b (which are history classes) and then over the summer, sign up for 15 (form and color) and 16 (graphics- photoshop/illustrator)...

do you know what emphasis you want to do? interiors? vis comm? exhibition? clothing?

Visual communications (graphic design), ah! Seems like classes are so limited! =/ What are you minoring in?

Kind of. It was annoying logging on to register for courses Pass 1 minute 1, and finding out current students already took most of them back in May! lol.

ugh i know! hopefully, if there is a miracle, i'll get into design 001! At least I moved up 1, hahaha

seriously. don't worry about it. just take ge's this year and think about maybe double majoring in something else..I'm doing txc as a minor and i've taken so many random classes over these past years (and I will still be taking random classes or graduating a quarter early..), but I finished all of my ge's in my first year...and don't forget that you have a foreign language requirement (unless you can pass out of it or have taken it in a comm college).
