Introducing TSocash, CC Update

Because my participation on College Confidential has been so rewarding a part of my job, I thought it important to let you all know that I recently accepted a new job offer and will no longer be representing the University of Rochester on CC. I can't thank you enough for being so engaging and respectful of me and my position on CC. I could not have anticipated how gratifying a part of my job this would be when I began posting a few years ago.

I also want to introduce you to and welcome TSocash to the forums. TSocash is a graduate of the University of Rochester and is currently an Admissions Counselor. He will be taking over for me on CC. You can rest assured that he is a great guy - honestly one of the nicest I know - and a very knowledgeable representative of the University of Rochester. I hope you'll treat TSocash with the same respect and kindness with which you have always treated me!

Lastly, if you have any questions for me over the course of the next month, please let me know, as I will continue to check my PM box and the forums in that time.

Thank you all again!

Mike

Mike,

Let me first congratulate you on your new job! Secondly, let me say how sorely you will be missed in the office and on College Confidential! Do you really have to leave?!?!

Mike was always able to give thorough, honest, and prompt responses on College Confidential - and I promise to do the same! (Although, I must admit, I have big shoes to fill on this forum). My intent, like Mike’s, is to be as transparent and candid as possible to keep all prospective students/their parents “in-the-know” throughout the arduous, and exciting, college application process!

There is already an excellent presence on the U of R CC forum in terms of knowledgeable parents (yes, I’m talking about Chevda, Lergnom, WOWM, MADad, etc…). I hope that my 4 years as a University of Rochester undergrad and my experience as a current Admissions Counselor at the U of R will enable me to provide some useful insight into our admissions process and answer questions about Student Life in general.

I’m happy to see that there are more current students posting, too!

Thank you again Mike for all your hard work and dedication on this forum. You set the bar for customer service pretty high!

You will be missed!

Hi, Tyler. UR sets the bar for openness & honesty on CC.

Mike, good luck & thanks.

Mike, congratulations & good luck in your new position!
Tyler, welcome (and thanks for the nice words!) I’ll know less & less about UR as my d is graduating this weekend!

Hi Mike! Congrats on your new job. Sorry to see you leave. I was hoping to meet you again when D2 graduates next spring…

Tyler, welcome to CC and thanks. (I’m blushing.)

Welcome Tyler!! D is graduating next week–it was a great, yet quick four years. Still have 2 others behind her so I’ll still be around CC offering my two cents.

Mike, best of luck to you!

Congrats, MADad.

As an aside to parents, we just picked up our kid and I saw that people were showing up and bolting. Rochester is a nice place to visit. Last Saturday, we went to the Public Market and the Museum and then checked out the magnolias lining Oxford Mall (off Park Ave). The Market is simply great, lots of flowers this time of year but tons of vendors, places to get coffee, some terrific live music at Java Joe’s, etc. As for the art museum, I’d put in the 2nd tier after the truly big names, which means it’s an excellent one. I’d say it’s better than a number of well known museums - and is quite large inside. We saw the Fibre International show, which was sooooo good - really, words fail - plus the collection, which includes one of my favorite El Greco’s, one of my favorite Thomas Hart Benton’s and a whole bunch of other very good pictures, including a handful of real masterworks.

We’ve been passing through Rochester a lot lately and still haven’t made it to the Museum of Play, which everyone says is cool.

So … stay a day and see the city. We took our kid to see High Falls because of course she hadn’t bothered to go during the year. You don’t expect a great big waterfall.

Sorry to see you go, MConklin, you’ve been a wonderful resource here. Welcome to TSocash!

If you’re a would be rocker, check out the House of Guitars in Irondequoit. It’s said to be the largest guitar store in the country. Part store and part museum, it’s indescribable.

Check out [The Great GREAT House of Guitars&#174](http://www.houseofguitars.com)

Where else can you see a Gibson Les Paul signed by…Les Paul!

I play it lefthand, like Ziggy. (and Jimi)

I’m looking forward to the Jell-o Gallery in Le Roy.

Really enjoyed Eastman House.

Good luck Mike and welcome Tyler! I can testify Tyler is a great guy cause I met him when we traveled to an area interview in Birmingham with my D. Sorry for the late post, just got internet back today after the April 27 tornadoes.

retrolady, I’m happy to hear that you’re OK! Those tornadoes literally destroyed some of the areas that I traveled to last fall. Unbelievable…
