Hey everyone. I thought it would be cool if everyone who’s going to Penn next year would introduce themselves. I can’t figure out the board on the Penn website so I guess I’m stuck here? So let’s see… my name’s Gina and I’m from Northeast Philadelphia, accepted into the college. I tortured myself all week to pick between going to Penn and Boston U. I think I want to live in one of the Quad dorms… not sure which house yet. I’m really a pretty normal person, which is why I think I’ll like Penn more than say a different Ivy League. I love the city so if anyone from out of town has any questions feel free to ask. Or for that matter, and future Penn kids want to talk feel free to hit me up… pinkshoelaces3 is my aim screename. I love playing tennis, reading, and music. I love rock music and that’s about it actually… and obscure bands for the most part. I’m really picky about music but I’ll admit when a band I like is really bad. Everyone will probably think I’m a weirdo b/c of my username and then saying I love rock music heh but it’s actually a joke from a webcomic. But yea I just thought it would be cool if everyone introduced themselves yah know? See who has the same interests and that junk. I didn’t really mention any school stuff because, well it’s April and I’m kind of through with school and don’t like talking about it. I have no idea what I’ll major in because I have too many interests. So I guess that’s it!

Hey Gina!
I think that this thread is a great idea. Well, let me tell you a little about myself. I am currently residing in Bolivia. My parents and grandparents come from different parts of Europe. I am planning to enrol into the engineering department in Penn in either mechanical or electrical engineering. I had a tough time chosing Penn over Carnegie Mellon, Rice and Johns Hopkins. Although I am not sure, I think I made a right choice. Even though Penn's engineering program is ranked lower than those colleges, I have been told that it is a great program and that I will not regret chosing Penn. Music..hmmm...my tastes vary as much as Penns community. I enjoy practically any type of music including but not limited to: Rock, hip-hop, pop, techno, rave, cumbias etc. I know most of you people have probably never heard of cumbias. It is a unique style of music that is mostly heard in southern south american countries. Anyways I really hope more people could post on this thread because I am 100% sure that all Penn acceptees have something interesting about themselves they can share with the rest of us. Best luck to all in your college decisions!

Hey..I know what a cumbia is! My friend is Columbian and she can dance some mean cumbia! I've been to family parties at her house and everyone gets into it. Good music!

do you attend penn happygolucky? does your Colombian friend attend penn? I don't want to sound obnoxious or anything but Colombia is not spelled with a u. You probably did that because most of us in these threads are kind of obsessed with ivy leagues and since columbia university is part the ancients then you supposed that the country Colombia is spelled in a similar form. Anyways nice to hear from you if anybody else wants to introduce him/herself feel free to do that.

Hey aaron -- no, I'm not a Penn student, yet. Just a hopeful wannabe! I've been accepted but unfortunately right now its all come down to finances. I'm hoping that it will all work out. Sorry about the typo, actually it wasn't caused by ivy obsession (lol), but more likely because it happens that my Colombian friend is actually considering Columbia and its been our topic of conversation for a few days! So are you definitely attending Penn?

yes. I made my final choice last week. I think penn is a great place and it is worth spending a couple of more bucks. I chose penn over five colleges who offered me merit scholarship offers. I am extremely happy that I made that choice and I am pretty sure that i won't regret it.

I agree, Penn is a fantastic school! I'm sure you've made the right choice and one you will definitely not regret. Good luck to you!

if its not penn...whats your second choice?

Hopefully it will be Penn ... but if not, more than likely I'll be deciding between Boston College, Villanova University, and Georgetown. They're all schools I think I'll do fine at ... but in a perfect world it would be Penn hands down!

yep penn is great. I am extremely excited to have 4 great years in philly.
