I've heard of many students retaking classes at their universities because the university classes were simply too hard compared to the AP classes that they used to test out of them. How are the introductory classes at UGA? For example, if I got a 5 on my AP Chem test would it be OK to go ahead and skip Freshman Chemistry?

I'd have to check about medical schools, though. I realize that some of them don't accept high school courses!

My roommate decided to skip the first semester of freshman chem, but take the second semester. That’s usually what’s advised if you got credit for a full year of a science (take the second semester). Just realize that if you do that, you’ll be taking organic your second semester of college (assuming you have to take it). It’s not terribly difficult, and it probably won’t cause any problems, but I thought I’d just let you know that. If you got a five on the AP test, I’m pretty sure you’ll be fine. I didn’t even take AP chem and got A’s in both semesters.

The whole med school thing may mess that up though. They require a full year of freshman chemistry, and many of them won’t take your AP credit. So unless you’ll be taking advanced inorganic chem later, you might be safer just to take the full year of chemistry.

As for other AP courses, take the credit and skip. The only ones you may want to think about taking again would be sciences and math. But all those humanities and stuff…I’d skip it.
