Hello everyone. I am introverted, and well, I've always known it. Don't get me wrong, I love being around people. I love helping people (I'm going to be a teacher). I even like parties sometimes. And I do have friends.

But I need quiet time to unwind, and it is absolutely impossible to find a quiet spot on campus. The littlest noises bother me. Our library is only open limited hours, especially during the weekend when I do most of my homework.

I feel like if I don't get quiet time, I can't focus, and then I feel extremely tense.

Are there any other introverts here and how did you cope with the whole college experience?

My roommates and I are all introverted (apparently, even though we chose to go random in our roommate selection, we’re all so much alike. I also had another roommate who was extroverted, but she’s currently taking a quarter off for personal reasons), so it’s usually pretty quiet in our dorm when we’re studying and not really doing anything. I guess I just got lucky.

What about the various academic buildings?

I had a problem with noise in the dorm and I got a set of headphones with good passive noise canceling. It doesn’t completely solve the problem but it helps.

Note I said passive noise canceling. That means the kind that have thick padding and clamp tightly, not the overpriced kind that you have to put batteries in.

I am an introvert as well. Since I go to a community college, I don’t get to experience dorm life until I transfer, but all I do is go to my classes, the school library, and home.
