In the boy’s administration (6/10) the proctor called the time remaining wrong throughout the English section, e.g. calling 10 minutes remaining when there were 5 minutes remaining. The total time allotted was correct; she just called the remaining time wrong repeatedly. Because of this, either the proctor or someone else involved in administering the test stated that they would see whether the test would be invalidated for all takers for that proctor during this administration.
I would be surprised if they invalidated it, as the total time allotted was still correct, but I have no prior experience with this. Am I off base here?
I am not sure, but if they said that, then probably yes. Think about how unfair that is. Five extra minutes is a LOT of time on the ACT. People thought they had five extra minutes, took their time, and were unable to finish. Makes sense to me.
I guess we’ll see - the bad thing is we have no good option here. If it negatively affected the score, of course we don’t want it. He took the test at the end of a prep course so it was fresh, now he’ll have to retake the ACT as a senior or just blow it off. He’s trying to see if his ACT score can beat his 1500 SAT, so there’s not a lot of room for error.
