I have decided that I would love to go into business and I have been breaking it down into different majors. I am interested in finance and sports management but I also think investment banking would be very interesting. Does anyone know what the top schools for investment banking are? I am thinking of applying to Indiana university, UNC, Boston university, and Wisconsin madison so does anyone know if any of these schools have a GOOD investment banking major? Please give a variety of feedback! Thanks a ton!

Vanderbilt is the only school with an investment banking major.

Go to the investment banking board and ask them about target schools. They are basically the Ivys with a couple of exceptions. I think you need to learn more about investment banking than to choose your college solely based on this belief that “IT IS WHAT I HAVE TO DO.”

My opinion: Ibanking sucks–no one really likes it. Yes you make huge sums of money, but you have no time to spend it. You sacrifice 2 years working 100 hours a week; make 100-150k a year. You learn to be great with excel and the ins-and-outs of financial models. Otherwise you are a grunt that puts together pitch books.

All I am saying is that IB is an intense field that isn’t for 99% of society. To be in high school and know it is your calling is foolish when I can almost guarantee that you don’t know about 50% of the other job possibilities in the work force.

I agree that since I am a junior in high school I have many opportunities and nothing is set in stone. IB is just an option of mine and I have not decided that I want to do it. I am looking for more information on it. Goose…if you are not a fan of IB which I respect, then what are some solid majors in business that offer good salaries in your opinion? Thanks for your time.

All of those schools are semi-targets at best. You will probably get some on campus recruiting, but not like true target schools. There’s no IB major. Look into Econ and Finance.

Indiana has a great investment banking group. Real pipeline to WS. Very, VERY hard to get into and stay in.

IB sucks. With that said, it is highly lucrative and what you can do afterwards is phenomenal.
