Investment Banking --> Law School

I will be graduating this year from a top undergraduate business school (Wharton, Stern, UVA). During college summers, i worked at various investment banks and financial firms. Right now, I am a senior and will start work as an analyst in mergers and acquisitions full-time once I graduate. After working in banking/finance for 3-5 years, I would like to attend law school.

What are my chances given my background and that I will have significant work experience. I would like to attend ivy league. I am aiming for columbia

GPA: ~3.6
SAT: 1490/1600
LSAT: 730

Extracurricular: scholarships, ample work experience at investment banks, some leadership

I'm really not interested in getting an MBA. But I'm new to the Law school recruiting thing and would value any advice on improving my chances at Ivy law school. Thx!

Many people with undergraduate business backgrounds go on to law school. I'm confused about your LSAT since it has a maximum score of 180. Besides that, your GPA is on the lower end for Columbia, but still within range. It really comes down to your LSAT.

oh. sorry. i meant 173 for lsat. so work experience does not help in terms of law school applications?

Law schools primarily consider numbers, unfortunately; especially the top ones. I would say you definitely have a shot at Columbia. Your GPA is a little low, but that doesn't mean you're out. Having the work experience might put you over the edge. Apply. The worst that could happen is that you go to a different law school, which isn't the end of the world.
