Yes, Regents is invitation only. It's quite an honor. Not to mention saving a lot of $$$.

yeah its only by invitation, not like the alumni one.
anyway, bri, kfc4u (who is at ucla right??) said it was out of the ADMITTED pool, so hopefully he's right...

"I was invited to apply for the Regents Scholarship for UCLA, but was still rejected by the school. I thought an invitation meant that you were accepted?!? "

i got this quote from an old cc-er. are u sure that we are being given a hint, kfc4u?? ahhhhh

I don't believe there's ever been an incident where anyone who received a Regents invitation was rejected from UCLA (unless of course they caused it upon themselves: i.e. failing senior grades, caught cheating- which leads to failing senior grade, lack of integrity on application (UCs claimed they do random spot checks for some small minute number of applicants randomly selected where they ask you to verify stuff on your application: http://www.dailycal.org/particle.php?id=10186 (I can't find the original site I read this from but this is as close with still the same information just about), etc.- you get the picture). Who are you quoting- I doubt the validity of his/her statement unless of course they did something terribly wrong. The sheer statictics of those invited to let alone apply would have definitely filtered out those who wouldn't even be deemed worthy of getting accepted into LA. I can always bring up the topic during the next Regent Scholar Society meeting, but I don't know how long that will take because there was a meeting just last week and they only met I think twice last quarter. Well they might not even know, but if there were anyone to know, this club of Regents members would have to be one of them.

has anyone received an regents invitation for berkeley or know how their system works?

thanks for the detailed response, jyancy!

do they send these invitations out to overseas/international students?

by mail too?

Ah, answer is yes. : )!

Congratulations, mea!

awww : )! Thanks flopsy.

sweetdreams87: as far as i know, regents is a UCLA thing....

All the UCs have their own regents scholarships with different requirements and are nontransferrable if you decide to transfer into a different UC than the one you received a Regents from or decide to attend another UC than the one you win a regents scholarship from (i.e. winning a regents at UCI will not be honored should you decide to attend UCLA or vice versa)

ooh, sorry, I'm wrong. On the site it said : "The UCLA Regents Scholarship program is unique to the UCLA campus...". Read a little too fast ;).

hmm...I don't know if I will get the UCLA Regents. I got the Berkeley Regents. GOSH! la la la

wow, dreampryncezz, that's awesome!

Wow, that's fantastic! At this stage, I thought that the UCB's Regents was an invitation only. How did you find out so quickly?

I thought UCB didn't even start interviews yet... hmm you must have had some super spectacular stats to know so early Dreampryncezz. Also, why do the UCB kids talk about "moving on" to the interview stage of the regents competition? Did they change their policy from last year? Because last year, you didn't have to apply or pre-screen before you "move on" to some second stage; you're invitation to apply included a mandatory list of appointment days from which you had to choose 1 from and this was a given when you received your invitation to begin with.

It seems like a lot of people have got the UCB one already.

"hmm...I don't know if I will get the UCLA Regents. I got the Berkeley Regents. GOSH! la la la"

Hmm... you're in the opposite position of me. I got invited to the LA Regent's, but not to Berkeley's (so far... crosses fingers :P)

BackToReality

hey backtoreality, im in the same position as u (ucla regents, but no berkeley regents)
but ucla is way better, right?? hahahaha

Oh ya, UCLA has to be better. How could it not be better? UCLA picked us! I mean, that's 5-10 brownie points right there... :P. Oh well, I will be perfectly content at LA or Berkeley or a number of other schools. Whereever God takes me, that's my philosophy.

BackToReality

aitch I hope I get one from Berkeley....If I haven't got one already, does that mean I'm out of the running already?
