Darn, I didn’t get an early acceptance. What are your guys’ stats?

I got it for Earlham though! At least now I’ll have an idea what the mid-west looks like.

I got my early admit letter yesterday, along with a Trustee Honor Scholarship of $18,000 a year, the highest they award! I about had a heart attack when I got the mail and saw the letter! I have a 4.0uw and an ACT score of 32. Besides that I have stellar extracurriculars, amazing essays, and great letters of reccommendation.

“stellar extracurriculars, amazing essays, and great letters of reccommendation.” Hahahaha you sound humble.

Thirrdplanet, I have a 3.98 UW (4.18 W) and 34 ACT, and I got $21,000 a year. And congrats about Earlham!!

Okay I have a 33 ACT and 3.9. Hopefully I will be accepted. Merit aid would be nice too but I kinda doubt it since I am not on the early admission list. I’m assuming since you got 21k that 18k isn’t the highest.

Yeah, I got 21k for the Trustee Scholarship. I think they upped the limit for this year.

I posted a fairly detailed account of my stats on the Brown forum. If you look through my recent posts you should be able to find it.

Briefly, my GPA is 3.75 UW and 4.47 W. 2270 SAT, National Merit Finalist, etc. etc. And the fact that I’m an Asian who lives in the Northeast might’ve helped too. :)

As difficult as it sounds right now, I wouldn’t be worried if you haven’t been accepted yet. It’s quite possible that the adcoms just haven’t gotten to your application yet. Likely letters and early admits are fickle friends. If you have good stats, it’s very probable that you will be admitted later.

and congrats JennyLeann! :)

Congrats to you too! The website said that $18,000 was the top award, I guess not! I hope to see you on march 3rd and 4th at Grinnell!

I only found out about it during school today b/c I was scheduling a visit for this weekend, and the visit coordinator told me to check my admission status… Kinda ruined the surprise of coming home to the packet this afternoon, but it’s all good. I got 18k as well, so hopefully I’ll see y’all in March.

Haha I’m sorry you missed the surprise! I was on shock when I saw it in my mailbox… It certainly was a great feeling though!

Anyone have any idea how many people were admitted early?

I’m more curious than anything else. Also, got my packet in the mail today. I’m going to look up flights to Iowa this week, and then I’ll register for the event.

So excited!

Opaline, I’m also curious about that! I mean, is the Trustee Scholarship really something special?

3.9uw, 32 ACT, 8 AP classes, decently involved in school and community–got a $21,000 scholarship. I’m planning on visiting in March! I’m excited too!

We might get a decent idea by seeing how many people attend the banquet on March 3rd.

Awesome guys, I just checked my mail and I got my acceptance and the Trustee scholarship too. And for $24,000/year. I have a feeling it might be partially need-based.

I’m so psyched, Grinnell is one of my top two choices

You guys are making me think I’m rejected…

I got one too! 24K for the Trustee Scholarship. Really excited! @lavender It may not be need based because I didn’t qualify for any need-based

@PrinceofParties congrats on the 24k! You’re probably right then, I was just speculating because some of the people in this thread have what looks like way better stats than mine and got less merit aid.

thirdplanet–I don’t think you should think you have been rejected. Grinnell’s yield last year was relatively low vs peer schools, my guess is that this is something new they are doing to try to improve yield by grabbing a % of their class before they have had a chance to hear from and consider other schools. What’s the saying, “there is nothing like first love.” I would expect that a majority of students will still be admitted under the normal process.

Did you receive notifications by regular mail or email.

@madabel I got it by regular mail but i think you also can check your application status online
