I am a high school senior and I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is for direct admission into University of Iowas business school. I sent in a petition with 24 act and 3.77 gpa and was denied. I just applied a second time with 25 act and 3.82 gpa. If anyone knows what my chances would be or knows anything about it please answer…I’m really stressed!
I got in with a 26 and a 3.7 so you are really close. Iowa has a really good bussiness school so it might be a little tough. But if you don’t get in now just get the 2.75 your first year.
Sweet, and my gpa is a point higher than what is required so I hope that will make up for the 25 act. How long did it take to hear back from them?
direct admission is going up to a 30 act score after this year. the business school is going to be tougher on direct admission, I think it’s about 15% now and will be about 10% in the future.
@newman22 how do you know that? for University of Iowa? That seems a little crazy considering that’s what it takes to get into Kelly (Indiana University)…
@newman22 and do you know if they will be changing standard admission requirements? I was denied direct admission and they basically said I need 1 act point higher
i believe no change: the following criteria by the end of the semester for which they are applying:
1.Complete at least 12 s.h. of UI hours of credit. (Transfer students new to the University are not held to this requirement).
2.Complete four prerequisites with grades of C or higher: ◦MATH:1380/22M:017 Calculus and Matrix Algebra for Business
◦STAT:1030/22S:008 Statistics for Business
◦ECON:1100/06E:001 Microeconomics
◦ACCT:2100/06A:001 Introduction to Financial Accounting
3.Earn minimum 2.75 GPA—admission prerequisites, cumulative, and UI.
4.Have no instances of postsecondary school academic misconduct or other violations of the Tippie College of Business Honor Code.
@newman22 I’ve seen those requirements and was told the vast majority of prebusiness kids get into Tippie (a lady who works there told me) Not sure how true that is…
I was wondering how you knew about the direct admit changes??
I’m a freshman direct admit currently and I don’t know about changes to the direct admit requirements but I can say that most prebusiness kids get in, but not all. The prereqs can be challenging for some to do well in. I was also wondering if you had submitted an appeal for direct admission?
