I am very close to committing to UI for fall 2010, but want to know a little more about the nightlife. I've heard a lot of the stuff that happens around town is in bars rather than apartments, fraternities, etc, and that concerns me a little bit. Can any past/present students provide any information about this? I would maybe like the bars every once in a while for a change of pace, but mostly staying on campus is what I would like the most. Please let me know your thoughts on it all.

Well University of Iowa have not only greatly engaged the student community on its campus but also the downtown which is right across from old captial. As a possible student who may attend Iowa this fall myself, I’ve researched into the area and found a lot of information.
There are many activities going on the campus, you may read that to attend one of Iowa City’s bars you only have to be 19 years old. Again, as a possible student myself what you are concern about would be pointless because from what I’ve researched and was informed by others there is a great campus community at the University of Iowa.

While bars may be the most recognized aspect of night life, it isn’t limited to that. There are often parties in apartments, houses and frats and if you don’t like the bar seen there will still be many different things going on all the time

Thanks for the info. This pretty much just reinforces what I’ve heard about it all, and I think I’ll be fine there. Coolbrezze- definitely let me know if you end up going there, because chances are I will be too.

^
Ofcourse, I should know where I will be going by May 1st.
